MadCap Coffee @ journeys coffeehouse

A few months ago when reading a issue of Fresh Cup Magazine I found an interesting article on a newly opened Michigan Coffeehouse called MadCap Coffee Company. As I read on, I was intrigued by the passion and knowledge their staff had for coffee and the coffee industry. Many of their staff has or currently does compete in barista competition.

I quickly went to their website and began to read more about them. I became so interested at this point I started mentioning MadCap to the journeys coffeehouse staff. After speaking with a few of the baristas, we contacted MadCap to ask them if they would be kind enough to let us try their coffee. After receiving their coffee, a bit of trial, error, tasting and some discussion with all of our staff and now the rest is history…

This week at journeys coffeehouse we are introducing a new line of coffees from MadCap Coffee Company. We are proud to be serving their coffee to our customers from this point forward!

The first coffee is MadCap’s Third Coast Espresso Blend, this will be our new house espresso. It’s a various region blend of coffee’s depending on coffees that are in season. It has a smooth, berry, chocolate, nutty and round body of flavors.

Our decaf espresso blend is MadCap’s Colombian MWP. A very smooth, nutty alteration from the Third Coast Blend used for regular espresso preparation.

The last coffee we are currently offering from MadCap, and my personal favorite, is the Kenya AA. This will be used as our house gourmet coffee; it’s creamy body with carmel tones with a clean acidity.

We are happy to be serving such amazing coffee from such an amazing group of people! We hope to help spread their message of the coffee story to coffee lovers in our area!

Cut for the Cure

For those of you that know Sean Bartley, one of the amazing baristas at journeys coffeehouse, you will know that Sean has always seemed to have this long hair that he loves. Just over a week ago now two of us were joking with Sean on shaving his head… the matter quickly came to that if we could raise $500 basically overnight he would shave his head and donate all of the money to breast cancer research. To all of our amazement we were able to raise not $500 but over $1000.

So today we gathered at journeys coffeehouse as well as online via a live streaming of the event to share in this amazing story. Sean has is hair dresser of many years, Kathy, come out to do the honors. We had several breast cancer survivors join us in person as well as on the live stream.

We just wanted to share the story and one man’s step in helping fight to find a cure. Please don’t let the fight end with just one event, keep on fighting for the cure.

Clean Water

This month we are partnering with you as well as Messiah to raise the funds to help bring clean water to a village in Rwanda. Since October 2005, the Rwanda Clean Water Project has been impacting families and communities with clean water.

Blankets

Last month we joined hands with L.I.F.T. to help raise funds and collect blankets to send to an orphanage in Baja California, Mexico (Baja Bound). So why the heck are we sending blankets to Mexico, plain and simple there are children dieing everynight because they simply don’t have a blanket to keep them warm at night. As warm as it may be during the day the nights get very cold. I want to thank everyone of our patron who contributed blankets or donations to help pay for the shipment of them. L.I.F.T. has sent along the first shipment of eight large boxes totalling over 149 pounds of blankets of life.

Keeping In Touch

Authentic Voice

I am stoked to share that the senior pastor here @ Messiah where journeys is located has started to share his thoughts with the world. The internet has created a vast space for those that have something to say to make it known. There are a lot sites that have nothng to say but say it anyways but this man has a lot to say and will share it with the world.

The sleeves are in so let the conversation continue on. As I mentioned previously we am stoked to be a part of using a simple coffee cup sleeve to create conversations will bring awareness to great amazing causes around the world. The first cause to launch is for Compassion through Junky Car Club. Today Sean man took some mad pic @ journeys of the sleeves and a couple of us with our jcc pride.
